Do you have ideas about great new products or services but don’t know how to test them in the marketplace?  Want to innovate but don’t know where to start?

The CAF Mentoring Sprint (a three month programme of workshops and 1-2-1 support) has been funded by the Creative Advantage Fund – the UK’s first dedicated Venture Capital fund for the Creative Industries.

This is a unique opportunity for up to 10 companies to develop a business product or service by using “Design Thinking” – developing a rapid prototype and testing your value proposition so that you can get to market faster, cheaper, better –  or all three!

Here’s how it works:
Workshops  – Monday 18th July and Friday 22nd July both 0900 – 1300 (compulsory)

2 x half day sessions lead by Andy Bass and Helga Henry with the cohort to encourage peer learning and also impart the principles of this approach. These workshops will lead you through a design thinking process.  We’ll share a number of models for the process and identify and hone the projects that you will work on over the next 60 days.

Mentoring during August and September –  Iteration of prototypes over a 60 day sprint (mentored)
During this phase the participants will work on the identified projects and receive some light-touch mentoring – this will mostly be by telephone, email and Skype support to keep the projects on track.

Wednesday 28th September 0900 – 1200 (compulsory)
Peer review of intermediate results This is likely to be a short session where progress, lessons and inspiration can be shared and disseminated.

Mentoring during September/October
A final four weeks for polishing and refining your idea will also include further “light touch” mentoring as before.

Friday 21st October 0900 – 1200 (compulstory)
Showcase to share final results.
All sessions will take place at Birmingham Hippodrome – Thorp Street, Birmingham, B5 4TB

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS PROGRAMME IS AIMED AT BUSINESSES WHO CAN IDENTIFY EXCITING GROWTH POTENTIAL BY EXPLOITING INNOVATION OR DESIGN

HOW TO APPLY
Please email helgahenry@birminghamhippodrome.com for an application pack. The application form is easy to complete (only three questions) and the FAQs give you extra information.

Deadline for applications is no later than Friday 8th July at 1700  and we will let you know if you are successful after Tuesday 12th July at noon .  Please keep all workshop and sharing dates free:  you will not be eligible for the programme if you (or a deputy) cannot attend these sessions.  You can bring more than one person from your business but not more than three.

We look forward to hearing from you!
